Ingredients For Punjabi Style Aloo Paratha Recipe

Aloo paratha is a popular Indian bread stuffed with a spiced potato filling. It is a delicious and fulfilling dish that is commonly enjoyed for breakfast or as a main course. Here's a simple recipe for making aloo paratha:

Ingredients :

- 2 cups whole wheat flour

- 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed

- 1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)

- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped

- 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped

- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated

- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder

- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder

- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (optional)

- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

- Salt to taste

- Ghee or oil for frying

Instructions:

A1. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour with a pinch of salt. Gradually add water and knead the dough until it becomes soft and smooth. Cover it with a damp cloth and set it aside to rest for about 15-20 minutes.

2. In a separate bowl, mix the mashed potatoes, chopped onions (if using), green chilies, cilantro, ginger, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder (if desired), turmeric powder, and salt. Mix everything together well to form a uniform filling.

3. Divide the dough into small equal-sized balls. Take one ball and dust it with flour. Roll it out into a small circle using a rolling pin.

4. Place a portion of the potato filling in the center of the rolled-out dough circle. Bring the edges of the dough together and seal the filling by twisting the dough on top.

5. Dust the stuffed ball with flour again and roll it out gently into a flat, round paratha, ensuring that the filling doesn't come out.

6. Heat a tawa or flat skillet over medium heat. Place the rolled-out paratha on the hot tawa and cook for a minute or two until you see bubbles forming on the surface.

7. Flip the paratha and spread some ghee or oil on the cooked side. Flip it again and spread ghee or oil on the other side.

8. Press the paratha with a spatula to ensure it cooks evenly. Cook until both sides turn golden brown and crispy.

9. Remove the cooked paratha from the tawa and repeat the process with the remaining dough balls and filling.

Serve the hot aloo parathas with yogurt, pickle, or any chutney of your choice. They are best enjoyed fresh off the stove.

Note: You can adjust the spices and seasonings according to your taste preferences. Additionally, you can add other ingredients like chopped garlic or grated cheese to the potato filling for variations.
