Nan khatai recipe | Nan khatai recipe in hindi

Nan Khatai is a popular Indian sweet biscuit or cookie that is enjoyed during tea time or as a dessert. It has a crumbly and melt-in-your-mouth texture and is flavored with cardamom and sometimes garnished with nuts. Nan Khatai has a rich history and is believed to have originated in the Indian subcontinent during the Mughal era.

Here's a simple recipe for Nan Khatai:

Ingredients:

- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- 1/2 cup clarified butter (ghee)

- 1/2 cup powdered sugar

- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder

- Chopped nuts (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the clarified butter (ghee) and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Sift the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and cardamom powder into the bowl with the butter-sugar mixture.

4. Gently mix all the ingredients together until a soft dough is formed. Do not overmix.

5. Divide the dough into small portions and shape each portion into a round or oval-shaped cookie. You can flatten them slightly with the back of a fork.

6. If desired, garnish the cookies with chopped nuts by pressing them lightly into the surface.

7. Place the shaped cookies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them as they will expand slightly during baking.

8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-18 minutes or until the edges of the cookies turn golden brown.

9. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

10. Once cooled, Nan Khatai is ready to be enjoyed. Serve with tea or as a sweet treat.

Please note that cooking times and temperatures may vary, so it's always a good idea to keep an eye on the cookies as they bake to ensure they don't overcook. Enjoy your Nan Khatai!
