Home Made Methi Puri | Ingredients of Methi Puri

Methi puri is a popular Indian snack made from whole wheat flour (atta), fenugreek leaves (methi), and various spices. It belongs to the category of "puri," which are deep-fried, unleavened bread typically served with side dishes or enjoyed on their own as a snack.

Here's a basic recipe for making methi puri:

Ingredients:

- 1 cup whole wheat flour (atta)

- 1/2 cup chopped fresh fenugreek leaves (methi)

- 1 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)

- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to your spice preference)

- Salt to taste

- Water, as needed

- Oil for deep frying

Instructions:

1. Wash the fresh fenugreek leaves thoroughly and chop them finely. Set them aside.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, chopped fenugreek leaves, carom seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix the dry ingredients together.

3. Gradually add water and knead the mixture to form a stiff dough. The amount of water needed may vary depending on the moisture content of the fenugreek leaves.

4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes.

5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan or kadhai over medium heat.

6. Take a small portion of the dough and roll it into a ball. Flatten the ball slightly.

7. On a clean, dry surface, roll out the small dough ball into a thin, circular puri using a rolling pin. You can use a little oil to prevent sticking.

8. Once the oil is hot, carefully slide the rolled puri into the hot oil and fry until it puffs up and turns golden brown on both sides.

9. Remove the fried methi puri from the oil using a slotted spoon and place it on paper towels to remove excess oil.

10. Fry the remaining puris in the same manner.

Your delicious methi puris are ready to be served! They can be enjoyed with chutney, pickles, or any curry of your choice. Methi puris are best served fresh and are a great option for tea-time snacks or special occasions.
